King of Prussia Mall

Cabrini College

Valley Forge National Historical Park

In the 18 th century, it was common practice for towns to be named after their best-known landmarks. So was King of Prussia named after the King of Prussia Inn, which was in turn named after Frederick II of Prussia. George Washington stayed at the King of Prussia Inn in 1777, and his troops spent a fateful winter at nearby Valley Forge.

Today, more than 20,000 people live in King of Prussia. Though the King of Prussia Inn has been moved from its original location, it’s still operational and open to the public. King of Prussia’s other claim to fame is its enormous mall—the largest in the country in terms of retail space.
